CANCELLATION POLICY: Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapists’ day that could have been filled by another patient. As such, we require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than 24 hours notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged a cancellation fee.

PARKING: There is free street parking on West Broadway between Dunbar and Alma. Additionally, there is free underground parking accessed through the alley between West Broadway and 8th Ave. Please note that you can only return to street level via a flight of stairs.

DIRECT BILLING: We are able to directly bill most private third party insurance plans, WorkSafe BC and ICBC. If you have extended health insurance, please bring your policy details to your first appointment.

Yoga Rehabilitation is suitable for all abilities, fitness levels and is welcoming to all bodies, genders, and ages. Even if you have never stepped foot on a yoga mat, everyone is encouraged to participate at any stage of their life. Knowing that it can be daunting to take the first step, time and patience will be a priority to those needing it. In alignment with your goals, novice participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of asana (posture), pranayama (breathing technique), and/or meditation. Experienced participants will have an opportunity to build on their existing yoga practice with the option of exploring more complex sequences. All you need is loose clothing that you feel comfortable moving in. While you may borrow a mat in our clinic, you are welcome to bring your own mat.

One-on-One Yoga Rehabilitation
Enhance your practice with individualized attention, classes that are tailored to your specific needs and are set at your own pace. To inform your treatment plan, an initial session integrates yoga posture into a comprehensive clinical physiotherapy assessment. Private treatments weave yoga postures with therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, exercise prescription and the use of other physiotherapy modalities. An emphasis is made on mindful movement and breathing practices. Participants have the option of adding group classes to their treatment program once they have gained confidence with a practice that is tailored to their needs.

Group Hatha Classes
Weekly 60-minute classes are available for participants who have an interest in developing their practice in a small group setting. Build functional strength, flexibility and improve your balance through a moderately-paced series of yoga postures. This practice provides participants with the opportunity to refine their alignment with a balance of strengthening and cooling postures that are sustained for several breaths. Sessions are eligible for coverage and can be integrated into your existing physiotherapy treatment plan.

Eligibility: Prior to being placed in one of our group classes, participants require a minimum of one 60-minute private yoga physiotherapy session. Alternatively, participants can attend a minimum of one initial physiotherapy session in addition to one 30-minute subsequent yoga physiotherapy session. Functional mobility, endurance, and readiness to participate in a class setting will all be assessed during initial sessions. It is recommended that participants attend more than one private session prior to commencing group classes to optimize their experience in a group setting, where there is less opportunity for personalized feedback.

Clinical Pilates is a system of specific exercises designed to address an individual’s specific injuries and physical needs and is performed on Pilates Equipment including reformer, Wunda chair or mat. It has been successfully used in movement rehabilitation and injury management for many years.

At Seva, your Clinical Pilates session is designed and guided by a Registered Physiotherapist as part of your treatment program. Client specific exercises are facilitated
to build: core strength and stability, muscle control, endurance and balanced flexibility.

Melanie (Mel) is a University of British Columbia graduate, earning a Bachelor of Science in Food, Nutrition and Health, majoring in Dietetics. She is a member in good standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC. Mel works as both a private practice dietitian and a clinical research dietitian in the Greater Vancouver area. Matt obtained his Registered Massage Therapy diploma at Langara College in 2016. Being involved in a spectrum of sports throughout his life, Matt enjoys working with athletes of all skill levels and sports. Today, her focus is on the treatment of temperomandibular dysfunctions, lumbopelvic malaligment, facial release techniques and acupuncture. After relocating to British Columbia Jill continued in private practice, becoming a managing partner in 2005 with a large private healthcare company know as PT Health. She now works as a partner at Seva physiotherapy, located in Vancouver, the heart of Kitsilano.

Jill has had the opportunity to supervise both kinesiology and physiotherapy students, acted as a company liaison for student placements, and has been responsible for the integration and mentor-ship new employees. She has been a guest speaker at both Capilano University and the University of British Columbia. Jill has also worked with the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators as an examiner for the national physiotherapy licensing exam. She maintains membership with both national and provincial physiotherapy associations, and is currently a member of multiple committees with the College of Physiotherapy of British Columbia.

Hannah completed her Registered Massage Therapy program at Langara College in 2022. Her approach to massage therapy involves client and practitioner working together to create a tailored experience to best achieve the goals of treatment.

She practices with a light to medium pressure, keeping deep pressure to a minimum and within specific target areas. Her hands-on techniques range from fascial release, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, Muscle Energy Technique, joint mobilizations, Swedish massage, trigger-point release, and hydrotherapy.

Registered Massage Therapist

Kyla graduated from Langara College in August 2022. Kyla works to create an inclusive and non-judgemental treatment environment, where the patient and therapist can work together to create an effective, collaborative treatment plan.

Her approach to massage therapy is simple: she aims to alleviate stress and tension from the body and values meaningful connection with her patients. She recognizes that touch can be a powerful tool in alleviating pain and discomfort, and she values communication and consent as the foundations of treatment. She appreciates and values the supportive role that massage therapy plays in overall health and wellbeing.

Kyla uses a range of Swedish techniques, myofascial release, Trigger Point therapy and Joint Mobilizations. She hopes to build a therapeutic alliance with her patients, where they feel safe and supported by their practitioner.

Charles is a graduate of the Masters of Physiotherapy program at Queen’s University and has a passion for sport, healthy living and connecting with others. His proactive, evidence-based approach combines tailored corrective exercises with IMS Dry Needling and hands-on manual therapy to treat pain at its source and give his patients confidence in returning to the activities they love.

Charles enjoys working with a variety of people, from athletes to individuals with little exercise experience. In his practice, Charles works collaboratively with his patients to make sure they feel comfortable, heard, and on track to achieve their personal goals.

Prior to physiotherapy, Charles competed nationally in Track and Field. He has been involved in many stages of athlete development and has worked with both recreational and internationally-ranked athletes. He combines his clinical expertise with athletic and coaching experience to identify underlying mechanical flaws that may be leading to recurrent injuries. He offers his patients the option of integrating a running analysis into their assessment and treatment.

Melissa obtained her Bachelor of Human Kinetics degree from the University of British Columbia. She is currently a Registered Kinesiologist under the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK).

In 2007, Melissa founded her Kinesiology company, Kinesitherapy, in order to bridge the gap between healthcare and fitness. In her practice, she treats injuries and illness within the body with exercise prescription and works with her clients to optimize well-being and improve their general fitness. Melissa has extensive experience working with clients recovering from or living with arthritis, muscular skeletal injuries, ICBC motor vehicle related accidents, spinal cord injuries, brain wellness/concussions/cognitive decline and metabolic disorders. Melissa’s passion lays in assisting and supporting all of her clients in achieving their fullest potential of health.

In addition to her own private practice, Melissa has worked with organizations such as: UBC Rheumatology, BC Brain Wellness, Lululemon (ambassador), Capilano College, United Nation Youth Association, Grouse Mountain.
